Hi Friends, I am back with another guide on GPS.
Mediatek Processors provide lot of control to the power user. You need to understand the tools for the phone.
Please note: The tool that we are going to talk about here is very powerful and if messed around with can lead to phone brick too. Hence don't mess around with this.
The tool that I am referring to here is Mobileuncle MTK Tools. This tool is available in the play store.
Install the tool. When you open, this will be your home screen. Here for the GPS fix we need select the Engineer Mode.
On selecting engineer mode, you will get following two options, Engineer Mode (Android) and Engineer Mode (MTK). For our purpose we need to select the Engineer Mode (MTK)
On selecting Engineer Mode (MTK) you will get the following options, you need to scroll to the right for more options.
Scroll until you don't reach Location tab. We are interested in Location tab.
At the Location tab you need to select the Location based service. On selecting the locations based service you will get the below screen.
We are interested in the EPO section for our GPS Fix. Select EPO and you will get this screen.
Here ensure that under EPO functionality - Enable EPO and Auto download are selected. This helps in faster GPS fix. Once both are selected, ensure you are connected to Internet to download the EPO database. To download the EPO info, click on the EPO (Idle) button. This will start downloading the latest version of the EPO files. Whether your download has started - can be visible in the EPO file info.
After you have done these steps, come out of the MobileUncle tools and check your google maps or any other navigation tool that you use. This will help you get faster fix like shown below.
